5000 more books from Simon & Schuster

This News makes me think that this may be the beginning of a GO GREEN for good trend.

**************** NEWS *****************

May 30, 7:50 PM (ET)By RYAN NAKASHIMA
p {margin:12px 0px 0px 0px;}
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Amazon.com said Friday that publisher Simon & Schuster Inc. will make 5,000 more books available for the Amazon Kindle wireless reader, bumping to 125,000 the number of titles users can download and read.
Later in the day, Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) Chief Executive Jeff Bezos appeared at the BookExpo America convention in Los Angeles and touted the benefits of electronic book offerings.
He said Amazon had temporarily sold out of hard copies of "What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception," the new tell-all book by former White House press secretary Scott McClellan.
It's still available, however, for electronic downloading, Bezos said.
"That's one of the great things about electronic books," he said. "They don't go out of stock."
Bezos has said Kindle e-books now account for 6 percent of sales among the 125,000 titles available on the site in both electronic and print formats. The company did not elaborate on that figure.
The online retailer cut the Kindle's price by $40 to $359 on Tuesday but still won't say how many have sold. The company also refuses to divulge the total number of e-books it has sold.
Kindle launched last November and sold out in hours. Amazon sorted out its supply chain and manufacturing problems, and the device was back on sale in April.
Despite the price cut, the Kindle still costs more than Sony Corp. (SNE)'s competing Reader, which retails for $299.

Lensmaster Lensography - GypsyOwl's Homepage on Squidoo is NOW OPEN!

The community at Squidoo was so welcoming and helped me to find everything I needed to get started. My website traffic increased by 4 times what it had been at for over two years. All I did differently was spend a little time creating lenses about the things that I am interested in.
I wrote about what I wanted to write about, learned the best way to present my work (from the generosity of experienced lensmasters), and before I knew it, I have 10 lenses published and doing very well! I also have two more in drafting and will release them early next week.
This is my lens preview, there are many more lenses in drafting that will be released soon. Visit often for updates to current lenses and brand new lenses. This may be the last link you will ever need to find GypsyOwl. I have caught the squidoo addiction.
Here are a few of the topics that I started writing about for my squidoo lenses. I found out that it isn't as unusual as I thought to have so many different interests. What ever your interest is, you have something to share about it. You are the expert!
I would love to hear what you think of the lenses I have created so far, please drop by the guest books on each lense and let me know if you enjoyed the lens, if there is something you would like to see added or improved upon.

GypsyOwl is publishing at Squidoo

I am writing for Squidoo and have a few articles submitted. The term for article is 'lens' and I am learning a lot about online publishing! Please read on for links to my new work.

I do not know how to say
THANK YOU
enough!
Thank you all for your encouragement and nurturing of my artistic side over the past three years. It has been the inspiration of EVERYONE that allowed me to 'grow up' in my creativity.

A Very Special Thank You to SARK ,
SARK friends, Family, Co-Workers,
and honestly if you are reading this then this Thank You is for YOU.

How this came about: (the short version)
I attended a seminar last weekend about butterfly gardens. The experience of learning how to create a butterfly garden was such a spiritual journey, I simply did not come away with a real butterfly garden plan idea. My focus was on the life cycles of butterflies and how that relates to my spiritual journey. However, I was inspired to write and I submitted to Squidoo. Now I have a handful of lenses published! When you visit, please leave a note for me in the quest books that are on each page, and, if you have a moment to give me your STAR rating that would be wonderful.

Create A Butterfly Garden
You can visit this lens at

Since I didn't remember the actual 'how to create' the garden, I linked to some very good articles about it by other writers who I admire. My spiritual interpretations were leading me and inspiring me.

"Going With The Flow vs. Be In Your Flow"
and you can visit this lens at

I finished the last edit todayBoth of the articles are already receiving very good responses and lots of traffic. I am a bit overwhelmed but, very delighted!

I believe I have learned what I want to do when I grow up.
What do you think? If you really like it, would you please link to it from your blog or other places that you post ?
Please pass this on to anyone who you feel would welcome the invitation to visit my 'lens' pages.

Catching up about me:
I realize I haven't kept in touch - so here is a short blurb about what I have been up to.

I am going to be writing for Squidoo twice a week (on average). I am continuing my education which is my full time occupation until I am finished (BBA Degree -Graduation planned for January 2010), have a part time position -on/call ( office management - internship), and am enjoying creating artwork for my online gift shops. I also volunteer for the SBN a few hours a week. I believe that everything I am doing has prepared me for this monumental new opportunity. I cannot express how 'fun' it is to write, and then to have people 'like' it is the icing on the cake. I finally had the courage to move forward.

How are you? I'd love to hear from you!

Happy May Day

History of May Day

When I think of May Day, I think of baskets, of flowers, and of the little jingle
"April showers, bring, May flowers."

I think of the May Pole (children dancing with long streamers of silk string or ribbon), and after the dancing is done.. ohhhh look at the pretty designs that have appeared on the pole. Loving flowers, and abstract art, this day really brings to me a lot of creativity energy.

This is one of the things I recall from childhood (school days), we must have celebrated this . I remember making paper flowers and making cones from construction paper to make paper vases.

I have thought about the baskets of flowers on doorsteps. I wonder where I heard about this (it seems that I have tought about it all of my life , so perhaps it was in early childhood at school). I think we had a May Pole at school.

Please tell me about your May Day traditions, activities, and any other thing you would like to share about May, May Day , or About Solstice and or Equinox , about baskets of flowers on doorsteps, and/or any May Day or other similar holiday tradition topics are very welcome.

I would now like to dance around a May Pole wearing a long silk gown and singing.

May you have a delightful May Day, and may spring bring you joy, celebration, and new beginnings.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Somewhere over the Rainbow by GypsyOwl

I grew up watching The Wizard of Oz at least once a year since I was a little girl. This year I watched Tin Man (an original Sci-Fi Channel mini-series released in December 2007). I have watched it about three times this year and hope to have an opportunity to see it again, read the screenplay, and to nourish this thirst that I have for the deeper meaning that is hidden within this story.

If you have ever believed that everything would be better; if only you were in a different place, with different people, in different circumstances, you are not alone; perhaps you have also heard that ‘where ever we go, there we are’ which brings me to wonder if we are suppose to find that hidden place ‘somewhere over the rainbow’ or are we ‘suppose’ to stay where we are no matter what?

I have learned that we each have a ‘light’ hidden within us, waiting for the chance to brighten up every dark place, everywhere, no matter where we are. It is waiting for us to find it, to allow it to guide us through whatever our circumstance is at the moment or to guide us to wherever we are going on our path (our journey, our calling). We do not need to find the place ‘somewhere over the rainbow’ in order to use this light. DG’s mother said “The secret to finding it now lives inside you”. She had purposely hidden DG’s light so skillfully that even DG couldn’t see it herself. The light was hidden, the secrets were hidden, and the strength to walk through the darkness was hidden from her.

I realized that we are all like this; we have a light that flows through us. I wondered why our light was hidden; how it became this way, and when do we learn to let this light shine (or ‘flow through us’) to assist us in our lives right where we are or to guide us to where we are suppose to be?

Why is our light hidden? There are several possibilities for this; here are a couple of them.
1. Sometimes our light is hidden for us by our protectors when we are children. In the ‘Tin Man’, DG’s mother whispers the secret of how to find the emerald into her ear and uses magic to hide it there. In everyday life, the magic at work is love. Loving adults find ways to help children hide their light because they are protecting them from the darkness, allowing their light to grow strong before having to confront the things that they are called to transform. These efforts are well meaning. Yet we find a time in our lives when the protections that we needed as children are standing in the way of us reaching our goals as adults. In some cases, these obstacles actually affect our health and well being. We must find a way to let our light shine, to let it flow through us now.

2. Sometimes we hide our light from the world and from ourselves. I am sure there are hundreds of reasons for this. We may feel overwhelmed by the darkness (not always evil. Sometimes a circumstance that is more challenging than we are prepared to handle. Sometimes, the challenges that we are hiding from are not our own. Sometimes they belong to our elders and we protect ourselves from them while we are children) “Remember what it felt like, when you were a little girl, to have the light flow through you”~Ahamo, The Seeker (DG’s father)

We can dream of that special place ‘somewhere over the rainbow’, we can romanticize what it will be like once we get there, and we can ‘feel’ better when we are thinking about it. However, when we find out that the light that flows through us must find a way to brighten the place that we are at, or that the light will guide us to where we are suppose to be, then suddenly we are able to transform anyplace into the vision of that dream place that lies ‘somewhere’ else.
I believe that each one of us has a ‘light’ that is within us, that at some point may be hidden or we have found it and are learning to use it in our daily lives. My fondest wish is that each of us find and learn to use the light so that we will be better prepared to walk through our journey’s with courage, love, and wisdom.

May each of us have a Light Filled Christmas!

The Joys of Autumn

Harvest moon,
Good friends,
A chill in the air,
These are the joys of Autumn.

Trick-or-Treat,
Apple bob,
Hay ride in the night,
These are the joys of Autumn.

As we begin our journey back to Spring,
Let the warmth and love of family and friends,
